Quite unexpected, when we were led to the a sheltered garden there were heaters to warm the area. The garden was covered with plants and scrubs quite appropriate for the themed tea party.
To start we were offered champagne and non-alcoholic cocktails. I went for the lychee cocktail, I can taste a hint of ginger which was nice but there was a lot of ice in the glass there was so much that there was some on the outside of the glass.
The rainbow coloured finger sandwiches, colourful but don’t be deceived by the name of the bread it doesn’t taste very much different from regular bread. The scones had to be one of the best that I have had, they were soft and moist, not dry and with no tang.
The Chocolate opera Rabbit’s clock had to my favourite, it wasn’t too heavy, soft with a ‘melt in your mouth’ feel infusing the chocolate with the coffee layers. ’Eat Me’, the Queen of hearts Strawberries and Cream Mousse, is hard on the outside with a smooth inside and a spongy bottom. Different textures made this very interesting. ’Drink Me’ had different layers and you can feel the distinct change from a sharp pungent taste of the passion fruit to the smooth and creamy panna cotta.
To finish the tea we had the lollipops, the first was the Hazelnut praline ice cream, once you bite in to it the ice cream runs into your month. I brought smiles to our mouths when I made popping noise as I spoke. The blueberry lollipop did make my tongue cold but not so much hot.
Service was attentive but my sister did throw them off by asking for hot water, where they returned with a glass of cold water. Other than that it was a fun and an exciting experience.
